Chap's Expressions - A Woman's Point of View!

A personal moment

June 2009

T

he memories, moments and experiences between a father and daughter can be enjoyable. There also can be some unpleasant experiences as well, but the good outweighs the bad. I remember the times when my father bought watermelons. He would remove the seeds, cut it to bite size pieces and put them in a container to be refrigerated. Although he did that for the family, it was special to me. I had moments that were not so great when he had to discipline me. In both instances, he was showing love and that he cared for me. He wanted me to be the best person I could be. As I reflect, I realize that those moments with my father enabled me to be the person I am today. Father’s day is this month. Take some time this month to reflect on your relationship with your father. What impact has your relationship with your father had on your life? What can you do for the father in your life to show him that you love him? If you don’t have a father in your life maybe you can adopt one for this month. Doing well for others strengthens you and encourages others to do the same.

“Certain is it that there is no kind of affection so purely angelic as of a father to a daughter. In love to our wives there is desire; to our sons, ambition; but to our daughters there is something which there are no words to express.”

Joseph Addison
