Life at its Best

“Life at its best is a creative synthesis of opposites in fruitful harmony.”

From “Strength to Love” by Martin Luther King, Jr.

fter closely following the election and observing American voters from all walks of life come together in fruitful harmony to elect the country’s first bi-racial president, I began to realize and believe that I was, in the words of Martin Luther King, Jr.; witnessing “life at its best.”

So often we, (humankind) unconstructively, spend much of our time on the differences that exist between us. Habitually segregating ourselves from valuable life lessons, friendships, and societal improvements because we can’t get pass our personal disparities.

Many have drawn lines in the sand over gender, racial, and cultural issues; not to mention political and religious affiliations. Historically nations of the world have been fighting wars over territories, and debates over who’s the most powerful. When from the beginning the whole earth, in its creation was a gift from God to be shared.

It is not our collections of differences or categorizations that define us, but our oneness with God, and each other that give hope to observers. Life at its best is a fruitful harmony which coexists in love, simply because of our oneness in Christ.

My good friend, Dr. Deborah Hoy in her daily devotion said that “we who are in Christ bear the responsibility to remind all others that we are one because of Christ.” She reminded me of the Scripture in Romans 12:4-5 “For as in one body we have many members, and not all the members have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually we are members one of another.” That’s life at its best.

Blessings and Happy Valentines Day

Chap
